Hannah Gray, Ben Potrykus and Sarah Somerville all achieved medals at City of Glasgow Long Course Age Group Meet in February. At the Carnegie Graded Spring Meet, Sarah Somerville won a medal in 12/Under 100m breaststroke and Samantha Mayhew was awarded medals in 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke. Sandy Coull (50m backcrawl), Freya McMeeken (50m butterfly) and Kirsten Mirrey (50m butterfly) all received speed flashes at the first Novice League of the year on 18th March. Kate Drummond (25m butterfly), Sarah Drummond (50m breaststroke), Greg Turner (50m butterfly), Georgia Earlie (50m freestyle), Kirsten Paterson (50m freestyle) and Daniel Bowman (50m freestyle) all received speed flashes at the second Novice League on 22nd April. Sarah Somerville achieved a new club record for her 200m breaststroke swim at the Fife League on 22nd April. In the Dunfermline Junior Sprint Meet on 19th May Greg Turner won medals in 50m breaststroke and 50m backcrawl. He came 3rd overall in his age group. Rhiannon Moore won a medal in the 25m backcrawl. Ryan Dunn won a medal in the 25m breaststroke. Ben Potrykus broke his own club record in the 50m butterfly. The Civic Week Sprints were held on Tuesday 19th June. Congratulations to Rhiannon Moore who achieved a new club record in the 8 and under girls freestyle. The overall winners of each age group were: 7/under girls Erin Lundie; 7/under boys James Gray; 8/9 girls Rhiannon Moore; 8/9 boys Greg Turner; 10/11 girls Rebecca Turner; 10/11 boys Ben Potyrkus; 12/over girls Samantha Mayhew; 12/over boys Lloyd Blyth. At the Aquanauts graded meet in June Samantha Mayhew won a gold medal in her 200m breaststroke and Greg Turner won silver in his 200m breaststroke. Greg Turner also achieved a new club record in the 200m IM and Harriet Gray a 200m breaststroke club record. . At the fourth Novice League on 26th August Rhiannon Moore (25m breaststroke), Kirsten Mirrey (50m breaststroke), Sandy Coull (50m butterfly) and Lucy West (50m freestyle) all received speed flashes. The 9/under boys and girls teams both finished in 4th place overall and the 10/12 girls and boys teams both finished first. In the Fife League Greg Turner and Harriet Gray both finished in overall 3rd place in the 10 and under, and the 10/12 girls and boys teams both finished 4th overall. At the Dunedin Challenge Meet in September Hannah Gray won a bronze medal in 12/Under 50m breaststroke. Greg Turner made a new 200m frontcrawl record.
At the Geordie Weatherspoon in September the club finished in overall third
position. Kate Drummond came 1st in her event (25m butterfly) as did Greg
Turner (50m breaststroke). Katy Aitken finished 2nd in her event (25m
breaststroke), as did Chloe Wishart (50m breaststroke), Chris Taylor (50m
butterfly) and Georgia Earlie (50m freestyle). Rhiannon Moore was 3rd (25m
freestyle). The girls 9/u, girls 10/12 and boys 10/12 all finished in 2nd
place in the medley relays.
At the Fife Championships Greg Turner came 3rd in the 50m breaststroke and Sarah Somerville came 3rd in the 50m breaststroke. Hannah and Harriet Gray will be training as part of the Fife Area Squad 2007/8. At the Alloa Graded Meet Samantha Mayhew won a silver medal in the 100m freestyle. At the Incas Graded Sprints Greg Turner won a gold (50m breaststroke), a silver (50m freestyle) and two bronze medals (50m backcrawl and 100m IM), Samantha Mayhew won a gold medal (50m freestyle) and Hannah Gray a silver medal (50m breaststroke). At the East District Age Groups in November Greg Turner broke the club records for 100m and 200m freestyle as well as 200m breaststroke. At the Fife Schools B Gala on 7th November Harriet Gray and Greg Turner won bronze medals in the 25m breaststroke, Alan Millar won a bronze medal in the 50m butterfly, Greig Shepherd won a bronze medal in the 200m backcrawl, Sarah Somerville won a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke and Hannah Gray won a silver medal and set a new club record also in the 200m breaststroke. At the Fife Schools A Gala on 20th November Hannah Gray won a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke. At the East District Age Groups in December Sarah Somerville and Tom Arnstein both set new 200m breaststroke club records. Sarah then broke her record again at the Carnegie Winter Meet. |
